Cloth

I am interested in the notion of making, un-making and re-making. I begin with used fabrics that had a previous life as a garment, table linen or bedclothes. They are already imbued with memory. I print collagraphs and photographic images onto these remnants. I layer, pleat, print, un-pleat, re-pleat, print and repeat. These processes obscure the imagery and render the printed elements illegible. The pleating forces some areas to be concealed, while colours are exaggerated. The processes I use reference how I imagine the structure of memory.
